About Shucking fresh oysters and serving them raw on the half-shell.
As oysters have such a delicate unique flavor, they commonly are served raw on the half-shell with their juice. Oysters have two shells, one flat and one rounded like a spoon. To "shuck" an oyster is to open the shells. An oyster "knife" makes this easier, but any stiff tool, even a screwdriver if that is all you have, will work, if you can twist with torque. For safety sake, do not shuck with a chef's knife or any sharp-bladed tool.
